LIBERIA — A team of FIFA experts visited Liberia last February 15, 2023, to take part in the training of women’s football clubs, discussing the topic of club licensing as part of their unending support and commitment to boost the growth of football in the country significantly.
The club licensing workshop for clubs in the upper division was held on February 16, 2023, while a capacity-building seminar for administrators in the lower, upper, community, and regional divisions was held on February 17, 2023.
Building on the momentum, this significant progress comes as a direct result of the successful launch of the talent development scheme in December 2022. This groundbreaking initiative received generous funding of US$50,000 from FIFA, further solidifying its commitment to nurturing and empowering aspiring football talents.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino enthusiastically shared at a workshop for African Member Associations that African football is on the cusp of entering an exciting new era. This era promises increased investment in football development and presents an unparalleled opportunity for more teams to showcase their talent on the global stage.
At present, esteemed Member Associations, including Liberia, are actively engaged in a two-day FIFA tactical planning workshop in the picturesque city of Paris, France. Representing Liberia Football Association are the dedicated President Mustapha Raji and the esteemed General Secretary Kollie Dorko (Atty). This workshop aims to meticulously prepare for the imminent cycle of the FIFA Forward 3.0 program, ensuring efficient strategizing and effective implementation of future football endeavors.
During this remarkable event, the esteemed FIFA President Gianni Infantino strongly emphasized the critical need to incentivize African players to choose Africa as their professional playing ground. With utmost conviction, he highlighted the significance of this objective. Furthermore, Infantino explained that the decision to expand the revered FIFA World Cup to accommodate an impressive 48 teams, with an astounding nine guaranteed spots allocated for CAF, will undoubtedly fuel investment and boost the allure of African football globally.
Thanks to the commendable networking efforts of President Raji, the Liberia Football Association (LFA) has seized additional opportunities.
